Project Showcase : Context River

A post by:

I had the opportunity to brand a new semi-stealthy startup, named Context River.

Data is a river. Data works better in context. That’s the brand concept behind this new startup, Context River.

“Make your data AI-ready” is the mission for this new company. I went with the vibe of data as an ever-flowing river of chaos and how to contain it within a brand.

Here’s a breakdown of all the projects for this new brand project launch.

I might have watched Tron: Ares before I built this…

What’s exciting about this work is the vibrant colors and the logo’s direct connection to the brand. There are many fun ways to incorporate the streaks into the creative designs. I challenged myself to use bright pinks and blues, which is a callout to my 80s childhood roots.

The Logo

The logo turned out solid; it’s bold and eye-catching. It’ll stand out in a crowded field of AI-related companies. It’s some of the most daring work I’ve done so far. I might have developed these iterations when the new Tron: Ares movie was released. So, what I’ve called the “light-streaks” in the logo is my interpretation of that.

The streaks symbolize various things: data, rivers, waveforms, trend lines, and the speed of light. All are significant concepts, and the logo’s brackets represent the containment of these powerful light streaks. This also allows for some fun animation.

The Creative “Parts” – i.e., Brand Elements

Breaking down the logo and using its elements. There are many creative ways to build the brand visuals. I’ve incorporated these streaks throughout the designs. The “aurora” vibe is such a powerful design feature, and it’s the foundation of the identity. I’m really happy with how this turned out.

Expanding on the artwork and adding an aurora borealis vibe creates a unique sense of ownership of the branding and identity.

Social Creatives

Bold and vibrant. These creatives should stand out in a scroll. I like the strong copy treatment, and it ties the brand together.

The Website

Built in Webflow, a simple site to establish the company. It has punch and lets the message get right to the point.

Brand Photography

Creating this brand photo style through prompting in Midjourney, I aimed to depict light in motion—how the brand colors can flow like a river of light around the subject. It’s a fun and bold exploration that helps the brand take ownership. Since this is an AI company, regardless of what you think about Gen AI production, it’s now part of my toolkit.

Presentations

Minimal & bold. Gets to the point without overwhelming the pitch and uses the brand elements to highlight the copy in a fun, boxed-out way.

Rafay Systems Rebrand Project

How do you elevate a company’s brand? Well, you call me, of course 😉
Self-aggrandizing aside, I had the opportunity to help Rafay, an enterprise AI and cloud services company specializing in accelerated computing infrastructure. The Marketing team wanted a rebrand, technically it’s a brand refresh, but we updated a lot of stuff. Here’s a breakdown of all the projects for this new project launch.

Hey Marketing Nerds… I made a Creative Brand Funnel.

There are all kinds of funnels. Funnels for your oil. Funnel cake, and then there are Marketing funnels. Why funnels? Product and Marketing have silly names for ecosystems and tech stacks. “Marketecture” should also be included in the silly category of Marketing speak. But that’s another blog post entirely.
